These last few days at the Basia have been intense. A horse riding centre (our riding school)the strings were pulled on the day of the holiday of which last sunday we said goodbye to spring, The jumping contest which had a large number of participants and enthusiastic supporters (photos will be on our website soon), The day ended with victors and winners unfailingly celebrating together.

After a few days here at the Basia we have bottled the product the Chiaretto The drunken wife 2009.  The bottleing which took place in an associated business is a special occasion: In fact in one day all the work spent in the vineyard and dedicated care in the wine cellar came to an end.

We are still talking about names…this time though we have invented the story ourselves. Even if we are always talking about popular wisdom this story rings decisively more matter of fact. This story is about how the name of a wine is born.
The drunken wife is the name that we wanted to give to our Chiaretto, and it is a name that was born partly as a joke and partly pride in response to many circumstances ( and maybe today not as often as before)- to hear one speak about …

This is more or less what I’m telling when I introduce myself.

So, my little farm is in Abruzzo and thus it produces Trebbiano and Montepulciano wines.

I do not pick the Trebbiano grapes, no matter what (including the snow), until they reach at least 20° of sugar. Therefore sometimes it is a little overripe (not passito, but just a little ahead with aging).

The vinification changes depending if I decide (or better, if the grapes are up to) to do the maceration (the Lama Bianca wine) or not, but I do not …

From the big chills that this winter is reserving us on Lake Garda, we of the Basia begin the adventure of Agrycult.
